M/M.’s wool shop, 2 New Market Street, Cahirciveen, Co. Kerry. Phone 087-6972021. email: margarethvbemmelen AT hotmailcom
A small shop with a reasonable stock of yarns, including the Dutch brand Scheepjes. Also stocks haberdashery, and does clothes alterations.
Cahirciveen is on the main tourist route in Kerry, the Ring of Kerry, and there are always a lot of tourists and holidaymakers around in the summertime. It’s on the way into town, from the Glenbeigh direction, and is just before the main shopping street, and might be passed by!

Hickey’s, Savoy Centre, Cork City, Co. Cork
Now selling wool…mainly Patons and Tivoli. They also brought in knitting needles and crochet hooks and other haberdashery for the craft, including patterns. Hickey’s is fabulous for fabric, but now that they’ve added a wool section, even a small one, is just great.

Vibes and Scribes Crafts, Lavitt’s Quay, Cork City
Vibes and Scribes was originally a huge used bookstore on Bridge Street, but they expanded into another location on Lavitt’s Quay. They had a craft section in the shop but needed more room so they opened Vibes and Scribes Crafts next door to the Lavitt’s Quay store. This is a dedicated craft shop with something for most every craft you can think of. There’s a big wall of books on just about every craft imaginable, most books discounted or remaindered, but some new books as well. They have a big beads section, a wide variety of notions for knitting and crochet, and currently stock Artesano and Kilcarra wool. They’re in the process of expanding their yarn selection to stock the hard to find, such as Brown Sheep, Noro and others. They also stock supplies for dying wool and felting tools.

Lovely friendly place, there was an amazing jumble of all sorts of wool-some Sirdar, some Wendy, lots of Tivoli….a good selection of baby yarns and a mixture of acrylics, cottons and wool blends, and some pure wool. Lots of colours of Kilcarra Aan Tweed.
There were some buttons, ribbons, and trimmings too, and a range of knitting needles and cases. The front of the shop has handknit garments for sale, plus some cross stitch and embroidery kits.
A lot of fun if you like to rummage-the stock is a little jumbled up. The woman working there was very knowledgeable and helpful, and could locate different yarns and brands straight away.
